Planning in Syllabird

After creating a course you can enroll students and add assignments. New assignments will automatically get assigned to all enrolled students, allowing you to plan the course incrementally or all at once — whichever works best for you.

Planning Basics

In Syllabird, it's important to understand the difference between a course plan and the calendar. The course plan is a sequence of assignments without specific dates. When you enroll a student, the assignments are added to the calendar, and you can reschedule them as needed.

If you need to reschedule assignments due to holidays, illness, or vacation, you can reschedule an assignment or schedule a vacation without altering the course structure.

Planning a Course

Remember:

  • Plan your curriculum from the Plan page.
  • Reschedule from the Calendar page.

Adding assignments to a course can be done from the Plan page.

As you add assignments, you'll notice that days with assignments get colored in the week/day grid as below. Notice that the first two weeks of this Math course have assignments, and the third week is empty.

Enroll a Student

Assignments will appear on the calendar after enrollment. Keep in mind that students can only view assignments if they are enrolled in the course.
