Assignment Types

Assignments in Syllabird come with different "types," such as:

• Homework
• Quiz
• Test
• Paper

While Syllabird provides default assignment types, you can also create your own to help stay organized and manage grade weighting.

Creating New Assignment Types

To use a custom assignment type in a course, you first need to create it. Here's how:

1. Go to your settings: Click your user icon in the upper right and select "Settings."

2. Scroll to Assignment Settings.

3. Enter the name of your new assignment type in the "New Type" field at the bottom.

4. Choose a color for the assignment type.

5. Optional: Check the "Hide" box if you want to hide this type on the Home page, Calendar page, and in Calendar exports.

6. Click "Create". Your new assignment type is now available throughout Syllabird.

Adding Assignment Types to Courses

Once an assignment type is in your settings, you can add it to a course:

1. Open the course and scroll to the Assignment Types section.

2. Click the Select Type dropdown and choose the assignment type.

3. Click the "+" to add it.

4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Now, when you are creating or editing assignment for this course, you will see the new assignment type as an option.
